- Collaboration with Shanghai Lingang Economic Development Group is testament to YCHs pioneering and extensive experience in RFID implementation
Shanghai, China, 21 February 2008 - Leading Singapore-based logistics and supply chain management company YCH Group, today launched the industrial zones first Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) project at the Shanghai Lingang Logistics Park. This project, developed in collaboration with Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co. Ltd., will provide a standard framework for the future implementation of RFID technology in other warehouses in Lingang.
RFID is an enabling technology for the logistics industry - only with RFID is true integration of the physical flow and information flow possible. The launch of the RFID project at Lingang Logistics Park in Shanghai marks the next step forward for YCH in our ongoing expansion plans to strengthen our capabilities in China and North Asia. This ground-breaking project is a testament to YCHs capabilities and pioneering experience in implementing RFID technology successfully across our operations to create a true real-time supply chain for our customers, said Dr Robert Yap, Chairman and CEO, YCH Group.
The implementation of the technology, developed by supply chain solutions provider and leader in RFID solution implementation Y3 Technologies, will provide the current YCH warehouse as well as future facilities in the park with increased security and a more precise and visible inventory information system, to enable better productivity and efficiency within the organization. Concurrently, YCH is also in the process of building another RFID-enabled YCH DistriPark in Lingang that is expected to be ready at the end of the year.
The technologys introduction will provide a standard middleware interface for warehouse management systems and RFID system interaction for a seamless management of inventory and movement of goods. It will also provide a uniform communication interface between warehouse management systems and Yangshan Free Trade Port Area Management System Platform for efficient workflow with the various government bureaus.
This project is indicative of YCHs regional capabilities that enable us to forge greater collaborations with multinational companies to exploit the tremendous business opportunities in this region, as we strive to become the preferred end-to-end supply chain management solutions provider to customers. added Dr Yap.
The Lingang Logistics Parks adjacency to Yangshan Deep Water Port and proximity to Pudong International Airport makes it a strategic location for YCH to integrate YCHs best practices in innovative cutting-edge technology implementation and knowledge of the Asian economic landscape to build a logistics superhighway.
RFID technology is a definite boon to the logistics industry, taking it into a whole new era. RFID has the potential to dramatically improve logistics business processes and very soon we will see the use of RFID technology throughout the complete supply chain. Logistics companies that are slow to adopt RFID technology may find that they lose out as it effectively enables real-time tracking and visibility like no other solutions, explained Mr. James Loo Wai Kheong, Chief Information Officer of the YCH Group and the Chief Operating Officer of Y3 Technologies.
By bringing in best practices in RFID technology implementation and management to Lingang, YCH is also committed to developing local talent and expanding its base of supply chain professionals in the municipality.
YCH Group is a leading player in the regional logistics industry, and the companys investment in implementing the RFID project in the Lingang Logistics Park is an endorsement of Lingang as a key logistics hub in China. As an important, long term investor, YCH has contributed significantly by bringing their expertise in supply chain management strategies to Lingang Logistics Park, setting the standard for the management of other facilities within the park. said Mr. Zhu Weiqiang, President and General Manager of Shanghai Lingang International Logistics Development Co. Ltd, which manages the construction, investment promotion and development of the park.
