SINGAPORE, 5 November 2014 - Dr Robert Yap, Chairman and CEO of YCH Group, a leading regional provider of integrated end-to-end supply chain management (SCM) solutions was awarded the 'Senior Alumni Award' by the NUS Business School at its Eminent Business Alumni Awards ceremony in recognition of his tireless efforts and distinctive contributions to the supply chain community.

The biennial Eminent Business Alumni Awards was held at the Mandarin Orchard Singapore on the 4th November 2014 and honoured outstanding leaders from both the private and public sectors, who have attained a high level of achievement in their field of business and management competencies. The recipients of the highly prestigious awards are NUS Business School graduates who excelled in 5 critical aspects, namely Performance, Corporate Governance and Leadership, as well as Character and Influence.

Guest of Honour, Minister for Trade & Industry Mr Lim Hng Kiang said “Nobody knows with certainty what the next fifty years will hold for Singapore Today, Singapore is recognised as one of the best places in the world to do business. Singapore is now also known as a business and financial hub for Asia and the world New sectors and jobs will emerge, displacing existing ones And as the life cycles of our industries shorten, workers at all levels will need to keep learning and upgrading themselves, whether to adapt to changes or to seize opportunities as they emerge.” He also congratulated all award winners and urged all the NUS Business School Alumni to “invest in (their) workers, to help nurture them to their full potential.”

With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Dr Robert Yap first graduated from the NUS Business School, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in 1976. A firm believer of “teach a man to fish” rather than “give the man a fish”, YCH under the leadership of Dr Robert Yap, is committed to grooming future generations of supply chain talent with practitioner-based, hands-on learning programs to make them all-rounded and industry-relevant. Apart from advising regional heads of governments at the ASEAN Business Advisory Council since 2003, Robert Yap also has over three decades of industry experience and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Logistics last year at the 5th World Chinese Economic Forum.

Currently the President of The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), Robert Yap also believes that “for Singapore companies to excel on the international stage, we need to have a global view in order to be able to identify and capitalize on the opportunities that the external competitive markets offer... Employee empowerment is also paramount to developing personal and corporate growth.”

Formalized by the NUS Business School Global Alumni Network Office (GANO) in 2008, the Eminent Business Alumni Award ceremony was attended by some 300 distinguished guests representing various industries.

Dr Robert Yap added “It is with great honour that I receive this esteemed award from my alma mater. The NUS Business School has equipped me with the capabilities to identify the global business outlook and assess the environment in which YCH Group thrives in. It has been a pleasure leading a group of innovation-driven leaders who constantly look to differentiation in adding value to our customers and society.”
