A*STAR and Vietnam SuperPort™ Explores Opportunities to Enhance Vietnam’s Logistics Sector Through Robotics and AI

Hanoi, Vietnam – February 10, 2025 – The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore’s lead public sector R&D agency, recently concluded a visit to Vietnam SuperPort™ in Hanoi to explore opportunities aimed at advancing Vietnam’s logistics sector through the deployment of cutting-edge robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.

The visit, which took place on Friday, February 7, 2025, was hosted by Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, a strategic joint venture between Singapore’s YCH Group, and T&T Group (Vietnam). Visiting alongside A*STAR’s CEO Mr. Beh Kian Teik were Mr. Chris Leck, Chief Partnerships Officer at A*STAR, Dr. David Low, CEO of the A*STAR Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (A*STAR ARTC), and Dr. Andy Lee, Senior Director of ARTC.

The discussions centred on A*STAR’s expertise in advanced technologies with the possibility of a pilot project at Vietnam SuperPort™. This includes the simulation of robot fleets for warehouse operations, capitalising on A*STAR’s proven capabilities in enabling mobile robots and related systems to inter-operate and collaborate for enhanced operational efficiency.

Dr. Yap Kwong Weng said, “Utilising advanced technologies align with our corporate vision of Vietnam SuperPort™ being a leading future-proof logistics hub in Southeast Asia. With A*STAR’s expertise in robotics and AI, we aim to develop solutions that optimise supply chain efficiency and drive AI innovation in the region.”

This visit represents an important step in exploring potential avenues to strengthen the logistics ecosystem in Vietnam and solidifying the nation’s position as a key player in the regional and global supply chain.
