SINGAPORE, Dec. 7, 2012 – YCH Group announced the launch of Supply Chain City™ in a groundbreaking ceremony held this morning at the 6.5 hectare site of the planned facility in Wenya, Jurong West. Supply Chain CityTM is set to be Asia’s ‘premier supply chain nerve centre’ and is a knowledge ecosystem that aims to accelerate industry best practices and set new standards for  supply chain excellence. Sustainable landscaping and community-centric elements are incorporated into the design of Supply Chain City™ in a “Work, Learn and Live” concept unique from conventional logistics hubs and environments. The event was graced by Guest-Of-Honour Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

The Supply Chain City is set to redefine benchmarks in technology, innovation and productivity. It deploys the worlds first Fusionaris (a patent-pending fusion of Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and Ramp-up Integrated Solution), which takes into consideration optimum floor planning, use of automation and integration of state-of-the-art warehousing capabilities that support logistics value-added (LOVA) and white glove activities to boost regional manufacturing and fulfilment. It will also offer unparalleled flexibilities in customizable office and storage facilities for SCM-related businesses and partners, made possible by various modular configurations.

Dr Robert Yap, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, YCH Group, said, The development of Supply Chain City is a significant milestone in the 57 years of YCH Groups supply chain legacy. Our world-pioneering Fusionaris has been designed to create infinite possibilities for seeding innovative value-added solutions enabling agile, flexible and scalable supply chains that are today's competitive edge for leading world-class MNCs. Supply Chain City seeks to inspire the future of supply chain in Asia and with our commitment in innovating to survive, coupled with a deepening Asia Pacific footprint, we are confident to deliver the next supply chain icon and hotspot in Asia.

The vision for Supply Chain City is to foster innovation and collaboration among the supply chain talent community and to lead the evolution of the supply chain industry in the region. Apart from the warehousing and logistics components, the facility has been designed with multiple lifestyle spaces for interaction and knowledge exchange, encouraging the sharing of best-practices and combining state-of-the-art office and amenities within a human-focused environment. Supply Chain City is expected to facilitate the activities of a 10,000 strong community of supply chain talent, including some of the most notable movers and shakers in the industry.

As the corporate HQ and home to YCH Group - who is providing end-to-end supply chain solutions to some of the worlds largest companies such as Dell, ExxonMobil, Samsung, Royal FrieslandCampina and LVMH today Supply Chain City is set to attract high profile clientele and other SCM-related partners locally and across the region.

Mr Lim Ban Hoe, Group Director for Transport and Logistics, International Enterprise Singapore (IE) said, The shift of global economic centre has seen global brands increasingly decentralising and moving logistics functions to Asia. Economic uncertainties have also resulted in shorter investment cycles and tighter inventories. To sustain growth and be globally competitive, logistics companies must innovate and provide flexible supply chain services to meet customers needs. YCH Groups new Supply Chain City is an example of how the company continually looks at innovation and productivity in order to take on international challenges and further cement its position overseas.

Supply Chain City is aligned with Singapores objectives of boosting productivity and innovation, sustainability and knowledge creation. With several supply chain eco-systems housed under one roof, Supply Chain City stimulates innovation through collaboration in the same environment.

Mr Kelvin Wong, Executive Director of Logistics, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), commended YCH Groups commitment to innovation and talent development to spearhead its growth. Mr Wong said, YCH Groups innovation in the system-level design of its integrated warehousing processes is a good example of how companies can achieve maximum productivity gains. The establishment of a training academy in Supply Chain City is another good demonstration of how logistics companies can take the lead in developing its own talent and differentiating competencies.

The Supply Chain City eco-system comprises world-class facilities that include a practical learning and training academy that will be equipped with displays and training of best-in-class practices in logistics, and serve as the industrys centre of excellence to promote supply chain knowledge exchange. A flexible exhibition and function hall will also stage the industrys main events in Asia and play host to VIPs and government delegates. Dr Yap highlights that, The development of Supply Chain City is an immense undertaking and demonstrates YCH Groups ongoing commitment to continuous innovation, sustainability and productivity for the SCM industry, dovetailing Singapores strategic thrust of being the supply chain hub for Asia and beyond.
