Hanoi, Vietnam, 17 December 2024 – Vietnam SuperPort™, the University of Transport Technology (UTT), and the Singapore Supply Chain and Logistics Academy (SCALA) have officially launched Vietnam’s first logistics laboratory, a pioneering collaboration designed to establish the nation as a leading logistics hub in Southeast Asia.
The partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to drive innovation, enhance workforce capabilities, and integrate sustainable practices into Vietnam’s logistics sector. The signing ceremony, witnessed by Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu, Deputy Chairman of the Vinh Phuc Provincial People’s Committee; and His Excellency Jaya Ratnam, Singapore’s Ambassador to Vietnam, marked a significant commitment from all parties to elevate the quality of logistics talent, steering it towards a modern, intelligent, and sustainable future.
Located at UTT’s Vinh Phuc campus, the logistics laboratory will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research and training, focusing on technologies like artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and sustainability. By combining academic rigor with industry relevance, the laboratory bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, offering experiential learning opportunities that prepare students and professionals for the challenges of a rapidly evolving global supply chain.
Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, stated, “This partnership aligns with VSP’s development strategy and our commitment to enhancing the logistics sector’s capabilities in Vietnam. The logistics laboratory will support innovation initiatives and help stakeholders adapt to global trends and complexities.”
Experiential learning is at the heart of this initiative. Participants will engage in hands-on training, collaborative research projects, and logistics-focused seminars that provide immersive experiences, developing practical skills and deep industry insights.
Nguyen Manh Hung, Vice Rector of UTT, highlighted the laboratory’s pivotal role in addressing the increasing demand for skilled professionals who can integrate advanced technologies and sustainable practices into logistics operations. He stressed that the hands-on training approach will ensure participants are ready to tackle industry challenges head-on.
The partnership also extends its impact globally. UTT students will have the opportunity to participate in internships and talent development programmes at YCH Group’s Singapore headquarters, gaining invaluable experience with advanced logistics systems, including those at Supply Chain City®. This global exposure offers students insights into the best practices in logistics, fostering leadership and innovation for Vietnam’s next generation of supply chain professionals.
Additionally, the collaboration seeks to improve teaching quality at UTT. Vietnam SuperPort™ and SCALA will design specialised training programmes for faculty members, focusing on advanced supply chain models, technological integration, and sustainable practices. By aligning academic curricula with global trends and industry demands, the initiative ensures future logistics professionals are prepared for success in a competitive global market.
This forward-thinking collaboration solidifies Vietnam’s role as a key player in Southeast Asia’s logistics network. By championing innovation, sustainability, and experiential learning, it prepares Vietnam’s workforce to thrive in the dynamic global logistics landscape while enhancing the country’s competitive edge in the sector.
