Hanoi, Vietnam, 7 January 2025 – Vietnam SuperPort™ has signed strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Transport Development & Strategy Institute (TDSI) and China Railway 16th Bureau Group, reinforcing its commitment to advance Vietnam’s railway logistics infrastructure and enhance regional trade connectivity.
MoU with the Transport Development & Strategy Institute
The collaboration with TDSI focuses on implementing Vietnam’s national railway development strategy, with Vietnam SuperPort™ as the key logistics hub. This includes research into new railway lines and stations, leveraging the SuperPort’s strategic location within the Northern Economic Corridor.
Mr Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Director of the Department of Transport, hailed the partnership as pivotal to developing Vietnam’s transport systems into modern and sustainable infrastructures. Ms Nguyen Thi Phuong Hien, Deputy Director of TDSI, underscored the importance of Vietnam SuperPort™ in driving seamless connectivity and economic growth.
MoU with China Railway 16th Bureau Group
A second MoU was signed with China Railway 16th Bureau Group, focusing on the construction of a railway freight terminal and integration into Vietnam’s national railway network. This partnership aims to streamline cross-border freight transport between Vietnam and China, enhancing regional logistics integration.
Driving Green, Smart, and Integrated Logistics
Dr Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, highlighted the SuperPort’s vision of seamless multi-modal logistics integrating road, air, sea, and rail. He reiterated the SuperPort’s commitment to sustainable development in alignment with its 2040 net-zero goal.
“Developing logistics infrastructure, particularly in railway connectivity, is essential for improving Vietnam’s logistics capabilities and its integration into global supply chains,” Dr. Yap stated.
Vietnam as Asia’s Logistics Hub
These partnerships strengthen Vietnam SuperPort™’s role as a pivotal logistics hub, driving economic growth and enhancing Vietnam’s position in regional and global supply chains.
